Measurements:

  • slice dark rye bread icon
    4 slices dark rye bread
  • butter icon
    Butter

    at room temperature

  • thinly sliced pastrami  icon
    200 g thinly sliced pastrami 
  • sauerkraut icon
    100 g sauerkraut
  • thinly sliced Swiss cheese icon
    100 g thinly sliced Swiss cheese

For the Russian dressing

  • whole egg mayonnaise icon
    ¼ cup (55 g) whole egg mayonnaise
  • chilli sauce icon
    1 tbsp chilli sauce
  • tomato sauce icon
    1 tsp tomato sauce
  • horseradish cream icon
    1 tsp horseradish cream
  • small eschalot icon
    1 small eschalot

    finely chopped

Instructions

  • 1To make the Russian dressing, place all the dressing ingredients in a small bowl and whisk to combine.
  • 2Place the bread in the toaster and press Start to toast.
    Tip: Select your preferred toasting shade.
  • 3Spread the toast with butter. Top 2 slices of toast with pastrami and sauerkraut. Spoon over the Russian dressing and top with the cheese. Place under a grill for 5 minutes, or until the cheese has melted.
  • 4Top with the remaining toast, press lightly, slice and serve hot.
