Air-Fried Crispy Spiced Chickpeas

Inspired by the exotic spices of North Africa and the Middle East, these crispy air-fried chickpeas are packed with flavor. Ready in under 30 minutes, they are super easy to make.

Ingredients


Measurements:

  • can chickpeas icon
    15½ oz can chickpeas

    drained

  • ras el hanout spice icon
    ½ tsp ras el hanout spice
  • sumac icon
    ½ tsp sumac
  • garlic powder icon
    ½ tsp garlic powder
  • kosher salt icon
    ½ tsp kosher salt
  • cayenne pepper icon
    ⅛ tsp cayenne pepper
  • fresh lemon juice icon
    1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • extra-virgin olive oil icon
    2 tsp extra-virgin olive oil

Instructions

  • 1Rinse the chickpeas well in cold water to remove excess sodium, then place on a paper towel lined tray to thoroughly dry so they can crisp in the oven.
  • 2Insert the oven rack into position 3 Down. Set the oven to Air Fry, Super Convection, 400°F, for 17 minutes and press Start to preheat. Meanwhile, continue to the next step.
  • 3Combine the ras el hanout, sumac, garlic powder, salt and cayenne pepper in a medium bowl. Add the chickpeas and lemon juice and stir to combine. Add the olive oil and stir to coat. Spread the chickpeas in a single layer, in the air fry basket.
  • 4Once preheated, place the roasting pan on the rack to catch any drips during cooking. Place the basket into position 1 and air fry for 17 minutes. When the oven signals, rotate and shake the basket and continue cooking.
  • 5The chickpeas should be browned and crisp. If not, press A Bit More.
    Tip: It may need a little more or a little less extra cooking time, best to keep an eye on it.
  • 6Cool the chickpeas before serving.
